It only comes around every four years, which is cause enough for celebration; but this year the City will use this rarest of days to celebrate its 7th annual Founders’ Day Spring Festival and raise funds for the Cape View Elementary P.T.O.!
Each spring, the City of Cape Canaveral comes together to celebrate all of the things that make this community such a great place to live, work and play. Founders’ Day is where we, as a City, take a moment to recognize the individuals that helped shaped this community into what it is today. Featuring music, food, free family activities, and a showcase of local businesses and history, Founders’ Day offers a little something for everyone and each year it seems to get bigger and better. This year’s Leap Day event, will be no exception!
Last year’s event featured a successful Chowder Cook-off that raised money for Cape View Elementary P.T.O. and with this year’s celebration situated at the half-way point between the Super Bowl and National Chips + Dip Day, it only makes sense to do a community dip-off instead! This people’s choice competition is open to everyone who thinks they make the #BESTDIPEVER. Registration is limited to the first 30 contestants at $17 per entry. Those attending the event will be the judge of who makes the best spicy, best cheesy, most unique and of course—the Best Dip Ever. Sample kits will cost just $5 each!
In addition to the Leap Day Dip-Off, V.F.W. Post #10131 has offered to host a Bingo game in the pavilion during the event — the proceeds of which will also benefit Cape View Elementary P.T.O.
With free kid’s activities, a wiener dog race and all of its usual amenities, this year is shaping up to be the best Founders’ Day to date!
