SUMMER CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS AT CBHS

Schools out for summer, but the work begins.

Even though we are not holding classes there are a lot of things going on at Cocoa Beach Junior-Senior High School this summer. We are taking advantage of the break to complete some long overdue renovations to the campus. Most of these facility upgrades are being paid for with funds from the voter approved half-cent sales tax surcharge. So, we are grateful for the community support.

New A.C. The air conditioning system that cools most of the campus is being replaced. The majority of our classrooms are cooled by one large “chiller plant.” That equipment has reached its end of life, and so we are excited to have a brand new system in place to start the new school year.

New Café. The cafeteria will receive a complete makeover. The serving area and kitchen will all be changed significantly. The result will be a fresh new look with various food stations, similar to a food court experience at the mall. We will also have booths, high-top tables and other fresh seating arrangements.

New Roof. The entire roofing structure will be refreshed over the next year. We do not have any leaks or serious water intrusion, but similar to the A/C unit, the roof structure is past its life expectancy and so the entire “membrane” will be replaced over the next 12 months.

New Track. And, we are finalizing the plans to renovate the track at the Football Stadium. The Get on Track campaign is nearing the finish line! We will soon be able to release a timeline and complete scope of work for this long awaited project. Many thanks to the community volunteers who have worked on this campaign over the years.
